Site Name Change

I’ve changed the name of the site from Hon’yaku to Ohanashi due to… various reasons.

The main reason is that Hon’yaku refers more to translation, and well, my originals kind of took off so I thought I’d adjust the name to reflect that.

Also, while honyaku (翻訳) means translation, I had used 本焼く as a terrible pun with the intent of ‘book grilling’, since I really liked the portrayal of the idea that I’ve processed the original to present to others, but … and I did know this before, but honyaki (本焼き) does mean book burning….

I figured not too many people would realize the Fahrenheit 451 connotations and I didn’t think the blog would take off like this, so I said screw it, I’m sitting here and I can’t hit the ‘create site’ button until I decide on a name, so let’s just run with it.

Soo… yeah, with my blog being at least half originals, I decided to take the opportunity to change the name.

No, the site address will not change.

Ohanashi (お話し) means a story/tale (or a discussion, but I’m using it more for story/tale)

  1. Well, I tried reading Ray Bradbury’s Martian Chronicles, but they didn’t work for me.

So I’m not wedded to a pun that references 451.

  2. Well, after reading this I just had to tell you: I don’t know what others think about this but in my opinion, you’re original stories are several times better than the ones you translate (you’re sinply the better author).
So honestly, I think this name fits much better.

  3. I subconsciously associate “Ohanashi” with the meaning “let’s talk” or “we need to talk”

Often with a scary look on the face of the person who says it. Probably the side effect of one or two fan-translated manga I’ve read in the past. :P

Well regardless, I come here for all the content you post here, regardless of what it may be (translated or original). Everything here just catches my interest, after all. I guess your preferences in content just happen to fall under the category of what I enjoy?

    Still, good to know.

    1. hanashi shimasu means “let’s have a talk,” and adding the “o” to make it ohanashi shimasu gives it more weight, making it “let’s have a TALK,” so your association isn’t wrong.
It’s one of those words that changes meanings depending on how you use it~

  4. As someone who read your comics when you were updating them, lost track of you when when you stopped, and found this site around the time you started Originstory the VRMMO, I am glad that your site has taken off as it has. Your writing is interesting and avoids the typical trends in ways I enjoy, and I for one would like to thank you for that.

  5. I am a big fan of Flower Blades and Oristo, plus Electricity now! I only don’t read the others because I seriously read so much that it’s a problem, so I haven’t time, honestly.

I got here because of Ossan no VRMMO, but I stayed because I enjoy your work. I just wish your muse would calm down a bit and let you work on extant stories, rather than starting new ones all the time lol.

    1. I don’t expect everyone who reads my originals to read all my originals. The reason I write multiples are because I have different literary itches to scratch~ so it makes sense that not all of my stories are great for everyone.
And, y’know, the slow updates on a lot of them are great deterrents, I’m sure.

If any one of them catches your interest, I’m happy, so I really don’t want anyone to feel obligated to read a story … because that just turns it into lit-class, and then you have to write a 5 page book report lol.

…Yeah, I wish my muse would cut it out too.

      1. I disagree, everyone who reads here should read all the originals. I for one read all the originals. Though I read everything on here except Isekai Izakaya [Nobu]. Though I should probably try it at some point. At one point I was trying to create a self ranking of your originals, but I gave up because I really wanted all of them to update.

Can I vote that all the originals get a slip of paper in a hat for every post that they have gone without an update, and whenever they do get a chapter in a post, they get a slip of paper removed from the hat. If that were the case, some of the originals would be overflowing the hat. And someone is in charge of making a hat content visualizer.

  6. Oof…Took me a moment to realize you changed the sites name. Still noticed that the https is still Honyaku on WordPress though. Will that change eventually to the new name or are you going to keep it for some kind of momento or something?
