In a Dungeon Before I Realized it.

A/n: When transferred to another world, he was in a dungeon.

The boy looked this way and that way, surveying his surroundings. But there wasn’t a single sight he recognized. Strange, why is it like this, how did this happen? With an expression that made you think you could hear his inner thoughts, Yuri Kugimiya stood stock still in a daze.

He was currently in a stone dungeon that you often see in games and anime. Come to think of it, there was a dungeon RPG game his classmates in middle school were really into. There was one of his few friends (a girl) who didn’t laugh at Yuri’s otomen disposition and would yell at the other people around, “What’s wrong with saying you like the things you like!?” That girl had recommended Yuri also play the game. Her reason was something like, “The character designs are cute, so I think Kugimiya-kun will also enjoy it!”

Furthermore, that game’s name was a series called “Attack Dungeon School.”

This has been a digression.

“… Un, this isn’t a situation where I should avoid reality, ne… ?”

The school uniform he was used to wearing, the simple school bag with no accessories. … There are no accessories on the outside, but his favorite mascot character was placed on the inside, and he had gathered personal belongings that even boys can use with beautiful and cute designs, though. Anyway, it seems like he had been whisked away to this place on his way home. He’s not a current male high school student used to light novels and game subcultures by appearance only (although an otomen). He was quick to recognize that he had been caught up in a mysterious situation.

He was quick, but.

“… A dungeon, so will monsters appear…? As expected, I can’t fight …”

Certainly, that’s how it is.

He can hear an unrecognizable ‘gya gya’ cry in the distance. Even so, it’s not good to continue staying in this place, so Yuri set off walking slowly. The moment he turned his eyes to a wall that caught his attention, he unconsciously blinked again as a strange screen appeared in his vision with a hum.

This was almost like a Status Menu often found in MMOs. Semi-transparent in Yuri’s vision, it was almost like it was right there. He stretched his hand out and tried to touch it, but he couldn’t touch it. In exchange, with a reaction that was like a click, information was disclosed to him in front of his gaze.

– Labyrinth Name: Husk of the Foreigner
Rank: D+
Material: Rock
Environmental Conditions: Favorable
Dungeon Master: In good health

Omitting the rest, various bits of information appeared, but Yuri skimmed it roughly. What does this mean, and what’s it about? He doesn’t know. However, although he’s an otomen, he’s also an otaku that loves games and anime. And so he judged that he could rely on this information.

… Normally you’d be confused when suddenly thrown into another world with a random ability suddenly appearing, but Yuri is calm. He has some airheaded parts, so he’s able to let all sorts of things slide. As an otomen he’s always gentle, responding carefreely to the hostility of others. His friends teased him for his personality with, “pushover,” “defenseless,” and “with the resistance of tofu” but here is the moment where it has a positive effect.
<t/n: idioms here are ‘like shoving a curtain,’ ‘skewering rice bran,’ ‘just tofu’>

While roughly scrolling through the information, there was an entry he was interested in. When he tried to select it, this is what it was.

— Currently Exploring: Clan <Scarlet Lynx>

A clan most likely refers to a party or team. Yuri didn’t party up much, but you hear about it on MMOs a lot. And what this information indicates is that there are currently humans in this dungeon. No, they might not be human. This is another world. But for now, he can meet someone. He can get information doing so. Yuri decided on that as his priority.

It was unknown where he should go to meet them, but he set off walking for now. With his school bag in one hand, the male high school student in school uniform plodded along. … Furthermore, the petite and slender Yuri also has a gakuran style uniform, and can be mistaken for a middle school student. Weird, even though he should have just celebrated his 17th birthday the other day – the person himself thought, but those around him would just say, “No, that’s normal. You’re pretty much like a middle schooler,” so he didn’t worry about it.
<t/n: chuubo, slang – middle school brat>

And thus, he continued to walk in the direction where sound was coming from for a while. What Yuri found when he stealthily peeked in from the corridor was a group of about 5 people. Was that the leader? There was a bald man called out instructions. The ones receiving those instructions and cutting up the monsters was a swordsman-like man, a hand-to-hand brawler girl, an archer woman who looks to be shooting cover fire, and finally, a boy with a large amount of bags hanging from his waist whose role was unidentifiable. They were probably the clan Scarlet Lynx? Yuri thought.

With that thought for now, he decided.

“I shall call out when the battle is over.”

Bowing politely, he stuck to the wall so the monsters wouldn’t find him. The group seems to be quite strong. You could say they were used to combat. Yuri watched them while carefreely thinking, “If they’re like this, they’ll eliminate the monsters fast, ne~.”

Nevertheless, he was suddenly blasted away to another world and in a dungeon before he realized it. And as a bonus he seems to have some unknown ability. Even in this situation, Yuri was carefree. Rather, he was thinking he was fortunate. As for why, it’s because he had now found people in a place where he didn’t know his right from his left. This place is another world, so it’s also possible that there are species he won’t be able to converse with. With that thought, it’s natural to think it’s a good thing to find people who weren’t too different from himself.

… … Furthermore, Yuri is fundamentally the type of person who’s carefree and optimistic.

Suddenly interested, Yuri stared at his own hand. Information appeared when he looked at the wall, so he wondered if he could see his Status or not if he looked at himself in the same way. And that was correct, and with a hum, the strange screen from before appeared.

“… Un, there’s all sorts of strange things.”

This was a Status full of things to tsukkomi at, even for Yuri with a personality that didn’t mind the details. His Parameters(stats) were low, but he didn’t mind because he was a civilian high school student. He had predicted that he would be the weakest in all sorts of ways. However, it was just his Job and Skills that had lots to tsukkomi about. And also, the level of his Luck is all sorts of strange.

First, his Job. What does Seeker mean? Isn’t that where it would be fine to have Student, for example? Or does this world not have students? Or possibly, he’s not attached to an institute of learning in this world so it wouldn’t be recognized as Yuri’s Job? In the first place, what kind of existence is a Seeker, and what abilities would he have? He doesn’t understand at all.

Furthermore, he also didn’t understand the Skill. First, the one on top, [God’s Eye]. On top of not knowing what kind of Skill it is, the level is also ∞. There’s no number. The level isn’t even denoted as at its limit with MAX. What’s with ∞? Yuri thought.

Thinking, he stared at at the Skill entry [God’s Eye]. If it goes well, more detailed information will appear, he thought. And those expectations were right on target. As expected of a child of the modern era who’s familiar with game subcultures.

— [God’s Eye]
The highest ranked Appraisal type Skill.
Has the ability to see through each and every truth unobstructed and all phenomenons. Impossible to obtain this Skill through any acquisition other than being bestowed by God. Furthermore, the person who has this Skill is called a Seeker, the highest ranking Appraisal type Job.

“… Un, it’s the usual cheat.”

Yuri muttered. Yuri didn’t know how effective the so-called Appraisal Skill was. With games, it’s importance changes depending on the game. He knew that the difficulty vastly changes whether you have an appraisal skill or not in exploration type games. Furthermore, from what he could see from the explanation text, it’s likely that the Appraisal Skill itself is a high-ranked Skill in this world, presumably.

Also, it was shown that the mysterious Job is also due to the Skill. Next he checked the Seeker entry. It was important to know about himself. This is the first step to knowing the world. Probably.

— Seeker
The highest ranked Appraisal type Job.
Can appraise all phenomenon as the holder of the Skill [God’s Eye]. Also, with the nature of seeing through all truth, one can create all things excellently. There are many who have sub-Jobs like Compounding and Alchemist.
All lies are meaningless in front of a Seeker, and they have been revered as God’s messengers in ancient times. However there are few people bestowed with the Skill [God’s Eye], so their existence hasn’t been confirmed.

“… Ah, this a bad one.”

Yuri understood the reality.

The moment he understood his Job and Skill, he understood that they were the type you can never let people in power know about. If this was one of the popular light novels, it’s possible that he’d be given a troublesome position if a person in power found out about his Job. He doesn’t need that, he thought.

What Yuri wants is world where he can calmly and peacefully have his fill of his otomen hobbies. If possible, he’d like to live in contact with otherworldly beings, like charming fairies, beautiful elves, and healing beastmen. … Also, he may be a boy of appropriate age, but he’s not someone who has bad ulterior motives regarding that. Rather than a harem, he’d prefer becoming good friends and go shopping together, that kind of ‘woman’s delight.’ As expected of an otomen.

“Un, If asked, let’s just respond with Appraiser. A novice one.”

It might be fine to honestly say he strayed in from another world, but he had the premonition that it could bring him trouble. Yuri’s future would be decided by how this world deals with summoned people and strays. For now, Yuri decided to call himself an Appraiser when getting into contact with the Scarlet Lynx.

Turning back to the matter at hand, he looked at the other Skills. With Cooking and Sewing, there are truly otomen-like Skills listed. He’s bothered by how the levels are moderately high. What does it mean if his Skill levels are 50 even though his personal level is 1? There’s a lot he doesn’t understand.

Is this the so-called otherworld transmigration cheat? But it’s not like Yuri wanted it. He doesn’t want to be a hero in another world, or make a harem of beautiful women waiting on him, or become strong enough to defeat the Demon King. If he had to say it, he wants to enjoy beautiful and cute things. That’s it.

For that kind of Yuri, he thinks his Status full of all sorts of cheats is an unnecessary item.

No, for what it’s worth, it might be the kindness of God-sama who threw him into another world. But if that’s the case, Yuri wishes that he had adjusted things so he wouldn’t stand out so much. Because being given a Job that’s practically an endangered species, where there’s obviously no one else currently with it, isn’t anything to be happy about. Also, he has no ambitions or aspirations, either.

For now, Yuri thought that the most important thing was for this completely suspicious person to call out to those people and see whether they’d accept him.

A/n: For now the protagonist has a cheat, but he probably won’t use it much.
He’s that kind of child.
Looking forward to your impressions and opinions.

  1. Make sure to update the status of this story on Novel Updates, as it seemed to have a moderate sized following from the previous two attempts of translating. Nice seeing this one being picked up again, and I hope your back is better and S.O. is doing well.
