Obtained a Guardian.

A/n: You may have guessed it already, but Ali has a temperament that worries←

“Now then, shall I have you tell me the full story?”

While sipping the water set before him, Yuri nodded.

They were in the residence of the clan Scarlet Lynx. The residence of Scarlet Lynx is in the outskirts of the capital city Doraheln, in a section where many adventurers settle down. The mansion bought by the previous leader, who had retired and was now living a comfortable retired life, was moderately grand by Yuri’s impression. It was grand by appearance, or rather the size was grand.

Actually, it might be closer to a dormitory. At the very least it was much larger than the surrounding buildings. He asked why. It seems that normally they wouldn’t live together just because they were part of the same clan. There would just be a meeting place for when required, and aside from that everyone would live on their own in inns and boarding houses. However, all the members of the Scarlet Lynx live in the same place. This is actually quite rare.

But they did have a proper reason. Hearing it, Yuri also understood.

The Scarlet Lynx seems to be something like a training center for treasure hunters.

There are no schools in this world. No, there technically are, but the only schools are those that teach etiquette that only the nobles and rich can attend. In this situation, it’s easy to imagine what happens to novice adventurers. The young people who dash straight ahead with only enthusiasm and high spirits, without the necessary training, will definitely die quickly. In particular, the treasure hunters who obviously dive into dungeons will die gruesomely. Rather, it’s rarer for them not to die.

That’s why the previous leader, who was concerned about this, made Scarlet Lynx for the youths who want to be treasure hunters to train in. Ali, Brooke, and Frau guide these rookies. There are two other instructors, and currently Scarlet Lynx numbered 20 people in total. This is on the small side for a clan.

And so, in Scarlet Lynx, those that become proficient graduate one after another. They are repeatedly replaced by new adventurers aiming to be treasure hunters again and again. That’s what this strange, training-school like clan is like.

Returning to the story.

“… My Job is Seeker.”

“… … … … Hah?”

“… Sorry. I was intending to deceive you, but that’s, well, … I didn’t want to be conspicuous.”

Ali was speechless at the words the downcast Yuri told him. He couldn’t help it. He couldn’t tell if it was true or not because he couldn’t see anything else but a timid-looking boy in front of him.

Seeker was a legendary Job. For those who have Appraisal type Jobs, it’s a legendary existence to yearn for. And that’s not a story just for Appraisers. Seekers, given eyes to see truth by the Gods, are existences called the messengers of God in this world.

And that’s what this timid-looking boy in front of him is? He can’t believe it.

However, he couldn’t see that he was lying. Moreover, there’s no way someone who could block the Authenticator Ali’s Appraisal was normal. … Authenticator is currently the highest ranking Appraisal type Job. As long as the existence of Seeker isn’t confirmed, it’s not unreasonable to say that Authenticator, ranked right below it, is the strongest Appraisal type.

But right now there’s a Seeker in front of him. The transcendental being that was born with what everyone wants to pursue, but absolutely cannot obtain through natural acquisition.

“… If you’re a Seeker, then you can see my Job and Skill, right? Tell me.”

“:Ah, yes. Your Job is Authenticator. Your Skill is [Magic Eye] Level MAX. … But it says it’s been halved.”

“… So you can see through it that accurately. Even other Authenticators can’t see that it’s halved. My Skill Level isn’t MAX for show, after all.”

Ali held his head and groaned. What Yuri said was the truth. Ali possesses the high ranking Appraisal Skill called [Magic Eye]. To put it simply, you can say it’s backwards compatible to [God’s Eye]. It has largely similar abilities, but it can’t see everything. Just more than Appraisal.

And Ali was injured in a dungeon before, becoming one-eyed, and as a result [Magic Eye] got halved. Even so, the Skill Level is still MAX despite now being halved, so he’s more skilled than those Authenticators with decent [Magic Eye]. And with Level MAX, there isn’t anyone that can see that Ali’s [Magic Eye] is halved.

Surely no one would think that the Skill actually depends on the eye. Ali only knew his Skill was affected by his eyes when he lost one. … It’s possible for a fellow [Magic Eye] holder to see that the iris changes between seven colors depending on the light, but ordinary people see normal irises. Now Ali thinks that such a fact should have been taken more seriously.

“… Was you being a Seeker a secret in your hometown too?”

“… I never said anything. Aside from that, my Cooking and Sewing Skills are high, so that’s where my interests were, or you could say they were my main…”

“Got it. Don’t say that you’re a Seeker. But seeing through a trap revealed that you’re an Appraisal type holder. We don’t have idiot comrades who’d leak other people’s Skills, but it isn’t something possible to hide. It can’t be helped, so let’s make you an Appraiser.”

“… Okay.”

Yuri nodded. Ali actually wanted to make him an Authenticator. However Yuri’s eyes are normal. Authenticators knew each other by the color of their eyes. Even if Yuri, whose irises won’t change, calls himself an Authenticator, it’s not believable. … There probably aren’t idiots who forcibly Appraise out of nowhere, so this is the only way to hide it. That’s what he thought.

Ali held his head. And groaned. How did it come to this, he was thinking. Returning safely from the dungeon was something to be grateful for, and Ali was disappointed he had been late to notice the suspended ceiling trap so he should feel gratitude towards Yuri. However, however. Ali felt like asking the Gods why he was mixed up in something so troublesome.

“Stay with us until you can make it back to your country.”

“…?”

“If your country’s different then your common sense is also different. You’ll carelessly get yourself deceived and sold.”

“I don’t want that. I’ll be in your care.”

Yuri obediently bowed his head. In this short time, Yuri had seen that he could rely on Ali. Whether that was an effect of his Skill or not, even he didn’t know. However, Ali speaks roughly, but was constantly concerned about Yuri. Somehow, he seems to be like a caring older brother figure.

Could this be the effect of the Parameter Luck∞? he wondered, but it seemed troublesome so he let it be. He can’t do anything about a Status he didn’t mess with himself. In the first place, the original Yuri wasn’t particularly lucky. He had absolutely no understanding as to why the value of his Luck was ∞ when he came to another world.

Ali, on the other hand, sighed at the sudden addition to the newcomers. A Skill far beyond the norm, but far too much of a layman otherwise. He’d asked in the dungeon, but his level was 1. If he says his Parameters aren’t high as well, then thoughtlessly bringing him along in a dungeon would be problematic. Ali thought it would be better if they had him raise his level with ways other than combat for his safety.

And so Yuri became a freeloader of Scarlet Lynx for a while.

Told that he’d be given a detailed explanation and his duties tomorrow, Yuri parted from Ali and wandered about in the base. The room he was given had the feel of a school dorm. It was a room that only had a bed, desk, and chest of drawers. But it was a one-person room, so his privacy would be protected. He had obediently nodded in agreement when he was told that going out to buy the small goods for daily necessities would be for tomorrow.

And so Yuri went to confirm the building’s layout, or rather he was wandering with the curiosity of a child. It was also true that his stomach was empty, so he was also searching for a place that looked like a kitchen. His curiosity was overriding his shock from being thrown into another world.

… Yuri really went at his own pace.

Perhaps the story that Yuri was a newcomer had spread; he kept meeting people, and everyone greeted him, teaching him all sorts of things. Scarlet Lynx was a clan that had an aggressive turnover rate, but thanks to that they were friendly even to a newcomer. For Yuri, who had lived a loner life for a long time, it was such a pleasant place that he was startled. Because everyone was kind.

He didn’t really know what the level of this world’s culture was like, but it seems to be equipped with plumbing. He was guided to the bathroom and hot water properly came out of the faucet. Yuri didn’t quite understand the mechanics, but the story is that it uses a device that uses a fire element magic stone.

… He could learn a lot if he appraised it, but it was troublesome so Yuri didn’t do so. It was fine as long as the truth was that he could get into a hot bath.

It seems that washing machines exist too. However the water removal was manual, differing from the kind Yuri knew. Even so Yuri thought it was good enough that he didn’t have to wash by hand. Speaking of a washing machine that separates washing from draining the water, he remembered the old washing machine he’d seen at his grandmother’s house in the past. It may look completely different, but he thought that it was something similar.

… He could learn a lot from using Appraisal for this too, but Yuri wasn’t interested. He was fine as long as the truth was that he could easily do laundry.

Everyone cleans their own room and does their own laundry, but it seems that the rookies do the work when it comes to things like cleaning the whole building, cleaning the baths, and preparing meals. They didn’t have anyone who specialized in those, so naturally the other members would join the rotation, but it’s generally the rookies’ job. First they have to become able to handle the basics of daily life before being taught the techniques of treasure hunters. … Yuri thought that it resembled training in a temple.

“… Is anyone here?”

Approaching the kitchen, Yuri heard a groaning voice and tilted his head. Rather than a groaning voice, it was a troubled voice. Curious over what could be so troubling to cause the groans he heard, he poked his head in to peek.

When he did so, there was a boy that looked younger than Yuri. A normal human. Brown hair and eyes with freckles. He was a boy with a charming face, but right now he was groaning so hard that it seemed like he’d break into a cold sweat. Wondering over what could have happened, Yuri stepped into the kitchen and called out to him. … Yuri also had a side to him that couldn’t abandon a troubled person.

“Excuse me, what’s troubling you?”

“Uwa?! Wh,who is it?”

“Ah, nice to meet you. I’m Yuri. Currently I’m a freeloader of Scarlet Lynx.”

“A newcomer? I see. I’m Yack. I’m the lowest ranked rookie here.”

Yack broke into a smile and presented his hand towards Yuri, who had introduced himself. Realizing he wanted a handshake, Yuri grasped his hand. When power was put into the squeeze, it hurt a little and tears sprang into his eyes. … It seems that the physical Parameters of this world’s residents were all higher than Yuri’s. Although he wasn’t going to check the Statuses since it’s rude.

“So what were you groaning about?”

“… Well see, I’m on meal duty but…”

Yuri tilted his head towards the depressed Yack. If he’s on meal duty then he should just prepare the meals, right? He wanted to say that, but seeing Yack’s depression he couldn’t say it for some reason.

Even Yuri didn’t think that this meeting would decide his position.

A/n: The person himself lives at his own pace one way or another.
But this laidbackness will have all sorts of effects on his surroundings.
That said it’s heartwarming, so rest assured?
I await your opinions and impressions.

Yuri uses ‘boku’, Ali uses ‘ore’, and Yack uses ‘oira’ which is a more rural way to refer to oneself. >
